Overview

Pulse watches a Mac over time. It combines live system information with persistent observation, so it can show not only what the machine is doing now but what it has been doing — which processes grew, where storage went, and what changed before something went wrong.

It is built for understanding first. Pulse is designed to explain what happened before anything is changed.

The problem

Activity monitors show the present moment. When a Mac suddenly loses 100 GB of free space, or a background process has been quietly misbehaving for a week, the present moment is the least useful view.

Most clean-up tools approach the problem the wrong way round. They offer to delete things before anyone understands why the space was used, which files matter, or whether the problem will simply come back.

The approach

Pulse records observations continuously and keeps them. Storage growth, process behaviour and system events become a history that can be investigated after the fact.

Diagnostics start from that history. Instead of a list of large files, Pulse aims to show when growth started, what was responsible and how it has changed over time.

When action is warranted, it is treated carefully. Proposed changes require approval, the conditions that justified them are checked again immediately before anything runs, and remediation is reversible wherever that is possible.
