HLNA Labs is an independent software and technology studio based in South Australia.

It exists as a home for practical software, research and experiments that begin with problems worth solving rather than products looking for problems.

Current work spans personal knowledge systems, artificial intelligence, AI reliability, system observation, cybersecurity, search visibility, self-hosted media and industry publishing.

How we work

  1. 01Understand the problem.Start with what is actually happening, not with the solution we would like to build.
  2. 02Preserve the evidence.Keep sources, history and provenance, so conclusions can be checked later.
  3. 03Automate carefully.Automation should be bounded, observable and reversible where possible.
  4. 04Keep people in control.Software proposes and explains. People decide.
